Dear Friends and Neighbors,
My name is Mike McDermott and for the past four years it has been my distinct honor to serve you on our Westland City Council. When I ran four years ago for our City Council I told you that I wanted to lead with a positive vision for our city and end the negative personal attacks of the past. I promised to bring bold, new ideas to the table that would improve your quality of life. I remain committed to tackling the challenges and inequalities facing people and families in our community. I believe that a good leader should take care of those in need of a little help and treat the people they meet with kindness, compassion, and respect.

Serving you the past four years on your City Council I have worked to make good on my promise of being a positive, collaborative leader. I have worked to improve your quality of life by bringing back curbside recycling, reinstating the vacant Board of Ethics, investing in equitable public safety, fixing our roads and infrastructure, and standing up to powerful corporations like DTE. As a public servant on your City Council I have continued to knock on thousands of doors, in neighborhoods across Westland, listening to your ideas and concerns. Today, I am humbly asking for the opportunity to keep on serving you. I will continue working hard on your behalf and hope to earn one of your four votes for Westland City Council in the upcoming election.
