MAKING GOVERNMENT WORK FOR YOU

Government must always be of, for, and by the people. As a City Council member you may not agree with every decision I make. Even if we may disagree, I will always work on your behalf. Since you elected me to serve you in 2019, I have continued to refuse to accept campaign donations from corporate PACs, as well as contractors and businesses with financial interests in Westland.

RESULTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Worked with my colleagues on Council and the Mayor to reinstate the vacant Board of Ethics in Westland.

In 2020 my colleagues and I on your City Council worked together with Mayor Wild to bring back the vacant Board

of Ethics and appoint 6 new people to the board. The Board of Ethics had been vacant for a decade and there was no

good reasoning that could be provided for its vacancy. Having an Ethics Board allows citizens to file a complaint with the

city when they feel there as been wrong doing or an ethical impropriety. It has an important layer of accountability to

       our government here in Westland.

  • Refused to accept campaign donations from corporate Political Action Committees PACs, as well as contractors and businesses with financial interests in Westland.

As an elected official on your City Council I have honored my pledge to you that as a City Councilperson I will not accept

campaign donations from any person who owns a business that has a contract with the City of Westland. That business

could be anything from our trash and waste service provider to our city assessor. I have also continued to honor my

pledge not to take any money from corporate-funded Political Action Committees. This means I do not take money from

companies like DTE, Consumers Energy, and more.

MY PLAN FOR MAKING GOVERNMENT WORK FOR YOU

  • I pledge to take no campaign donations from city contractors

It is my continued pledge to you the residents and taxpayers of Westland to take no campaign donations from

contractors who have a business contract with the City of Westland. As well, I will continue to reject donations from any

corporate-sponsored or funded Political Action Committee (PAC). I will only accept donations from individual people,

union groups representing the working class, and progressive-focused organizations that work to represent the

interests of people and protect our environment.

  • Create a searchable database of city spending:

One of the projects I want to work on is to create a searchable database on the City of Westland's website that tracks

the spending of your tax dollars. I want this database to cover every item of spending
